Roaring Fork Falls

Roaring Fork Falls is almost as long as it is high, with a multitude of free falls, slides, and cascades pouring into a small, clear pool at the base. This one is highly recommended.

Directions

Driving

From the intersection of the Blue Ridge Parkway and NC Hwy. 80, go about 2.2 miles West and turn left on South Toe River Rd. (there is a sign for the Black Mountain Campground). Cross the bridge and immediately turn left onto the road to the Busick Work Center. The parking area is on the left after about 0.2 mile, just before the gate to the Work Center.

Trail

The hike is Easy and about 1 1/4 miles round trip. The trail starts on the right side of the road; there is a sign pointing you to the falls. Go around the gate onto a gravel road and hike about 1/4 mile. Just before the road crosses the creek, turn right to cross a small wooden bridge. This forest path ends at the falls just a short distance from the bridge.
